Preferred by Nature is proud to collaborate with Polish eco-friendly toy producer Wooden Story to launch the international Pure Design Contest. The challenge invites both professional and amateur designers to come up with new ideas for child eco-friendly furniture while offering a chance to get their designs into production.
The Pure Design Contest is calling for furniture designs that offer children a comfortable and safe place to creatively learn and play. The three winning designs will be implemented into production and made available for sale under the Wooden Story brand. As a collaborator, Preferred by Nature will be the sponsor for the second prize.
For its inaugural edition, the contest slogan is ‘A child’s place in public space – an inclusive table and chair for learning and playing’. The winning furniture designs must be made in accordance with Wooden Story’s ecological philosophy. The design should also reflect an idea for a creative and inclusive workspace for children, including those with disabilities.
The toy company takes inspiration from nature and believes in using responsibly sourced wood products in all its production. Wooden Story’s toys are made of wood that comes from Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) certified suppliers. The company ensures only natural, eco-certified paints are used to colour these items. In terms of its packaging, Wooden Story employs eco-friendly canvas bags and boxes that are made to be reused or are easily recycled.
“Wooden Story has been our long-term partner and a role model company under the FSC scheme because it is in line with their environmentally conscious business model. We are happy to become a patron of the Pure Design Contest, which is a unique initiative aimed at supporting and promoting young designers who share our values. We wish good luck to all participants and can’t wait to see the winning designs!” shared Aleksandra Leszczyńska, Preferred by Nature’s Market Development Representative in Poland.
