Project objective
The objective of the Danish FSC Secretariat was to initiate and manage the process of developing a Danish national FSC forest management standard.
Related to this, the Secretariat aimed to put FSC eco-labelling on the agenda amongst Danish consumers, forest owners and companies in the timber supply chain.
Project approach
The first draft Danish national forest management standard was developed in a multi-stakeholder process. This development was based on the operational guidelines for sustainable forestry developed under Preferred by Nature's first project Sustainable Forest.
This entailed management of the Secretariat involved organising regular meetings, following up on dialogue and requests, and participating in the international FSC system development process.
Results and impact
After initiating the process, Preferred by Nature became an observer in the Danish FSC Working Group. The Secretariat has later on evolved into today's highly successful Danish FSC National Office, led by a succession of highly competent people.
